Equinox Dark Yoga & Sound Temple - a Breathwork Concert & Sound bath

  • Open Minds Fusion Studio 315 Southeast Main Street Minneapolis, MN, 55414 United States (map)

A dark and ecstatic experience through your inner worlds.

As we embark on this vibrational journey, with many giant gongs and a long deep sound bath, we will feel into our shadows and embrace the darkness of the season. The shadows have been especially dark this winter.  Feel into your body, mind and spirit as the days get shorter and darker with yin & SLOW yoga, AND go deeper into our minds with guided transcendental breath work.

Our practice will be about progressive darkness in balance with the light in our hearts. This will be literal, as the room will become darker and darker and we will be using blindfolds to go even deeper into sensory deprivation, to heighten our other senses to feel into light, vibration, healing. And it will be figurative, as you are guided on your own creative journey in your mind's eye during the soundscape with an option to blindfold to go deeper.

This is a journey. We start with a slow guided movement, yin yoga and yummy stretching with a giant gong bath.

We will then slide into your heart beats and breath. A guided breathwork concert with drums and gongs.

Breath is the medicine and foundation of our next part of class- Concious & intuitive movement that becomes a concious and ecstatic dance for you on your mat.

We will then drop back into stillness alongside a deep & vibrational Gongs & sounds bath w singing bowls & other healing sound instruments. Yin, & slow fluid movement and stretching included.

All levels. Experience your breath, body, mind and darkness to celebrate and integrate the season.

Price: $44

Early Bird price $33 before Sunday March 15.

Expect Rhythmic Breath, releasing techniques, slow yoga infused with yin & intuitive movement with your guide, Teacher Koreen , Yoga teacher and Ecstatic Dance DJ.

Together we will be honoring, night, DARKNESS and shadows. And through slow yoga we will know our deep inner resilience.

Let yourself be guided through postures and breathwork techniques. Experience their effects as you absorb healing sounds. The soundscape will be full of depth and feeling - mountain peaks of vibrations, drone into feelings of balance like a ship on a calm sea. Watch where your mind takes you. This is the kind of sound you can feel in your bones and has potential for deep healing. Therapeutic sound impacts our nervous system, slowing the heart, brain and respiratory rates down to induce a state of deep relaxation and peace. When the brain waves and body are synchronised, balance can be restored and stress relieved.

We will end class with candles slowly being lit. Reemerging from the dark, slowly. You will be guided back to the light and your sense of sight. At this time you will have an opportunity to grab your journal to sketch, write, process and integrate your journey, your insights, and your heart's desire for the autumn cycle we are entering, riding upon our Mother Earth ship - Fall.

Why? Connecting to the darkness, and remaining open, welcoming all it has to teach is a very powerful skill to harness your full life-force & potential. Our knee jerk reaction is to turn on a light, to flee the darkness, to 'fix' any sense of discomfort we experience, But what if we sit into it, move and breath and slowly dance our bodies into exploring and precessing emotional states.

Instead of asking yourself what can we do to be better, what if we sit with how it is, exactly as it is now?!?!
