Chair Dance Yoga

Wednesday, Sept 11 - 630pm

Not your usual chair yoga class. Chair yoga is accessible, adaptable yoga using a chair. AND in this class we level up and layer in chair dance, kundalini yoga and more!

Created for all levels, this gentle class will still challenge your flexibility, balance and strength …no matter where you are at. Every pose and move given will have options/ modifications for all bodies and mobilities. You can choose the flow that fits you

Using a chair to ease pressure on your joints, but also as a tool for going much deeper into asanas when you have a little support.

I am talking to anyone who knows that your body can do so much with a little extra love and support.

Do you want to stay strong, feel sexy & relish the feeling of being alive? We got you!

This playful workshop is a great way to spend an evening with old and new friends.

This class is for anyone who may have trouble kneeling or folding or balancing alone -or who may want to move slower and more deliberately - it is also designed for sisters who have different levels of mobility and really want a healthy girl’s night out.

You may have shoulder or back issues that may prevent you from taking power yoga, or vinyasa classes, but you want to move and flow in adaptable ways where you can feel your heart beat and tune into the power and beauty of your body!

MAYBE you don’t have any mobility issues but want to feel deeply into somatic movement & explore chair dance mixed with yoga simply to gain flexibility and balance. A chair can help every asana to be felt & understood in new ways. Beneficial for all levels!

About the teachers & their philosophy for this class.

When We created this class, I had in mind my sexy friend who broke an ankle this summer and who can’t work out in the ways she used to. And a student who just can’t get all the way up and down from a mat easily. I thought about my friend who hopes to have hip surgery soon, but her mobility was limited even though she had been practicing power yoga for many years. I keep in mind my own fluctuating body and the desire to care for my joints(!), but also desire to feel strong & to flow in a way that makes me feel good in my skin. I think about my own knees and when I couldn’t kneel even in table top after a roller derby injury. I think about all the shoulder issues many of us experience that make plank pose and chatarunga dangerous and unhelpful for healing.

I think about the toll these mobility issues take not just on our body, but our emotional health.

And I think about how good it feels when we take the pressure off! Take the pressure off your knees, your back! Notice how you can feel successful in balancing pose with the right tools.

The the pressure off your self mentally as well. As we practice our fitness and move in a room of beautiful unique bodies.

And in the spirit of yoga, we connect mind-body-spirit.

We use the chair as a tool in in this yoga workshop, and as a prop to play & dance with.
